4th Annual Cargo Bike Cruise Celebrates Pedal Power Revolution

On June 29th over 40 riders took to the streets of London to take part in our 4th Cargo Bike Cruise!

Each year the movement gets bigger and better - a testament to the businesses and organisations committed to making London a more sustainable, healthy place to live and work – and an efficient and innovative place to do business.

Cargo bikes have revolutionised freight options in London - what once would have been seen as a novelty a few years ago, is now becoming mainstream. We have seen this transition first hand in London Bridge through our Bikes for Business project, with over 200 businesses making a switch to cargo bikes for deliveries since the project began in 2019. Whether its delivering blood samples, legal contracts, flowers or waste, or running services like electricians and laundry.

We are pleased to release the Final Evaluation Summary of this project, perhaps the biggest study of a cargo bike initiative ever done. Our Placeshaping Director Jack Skillen, shares his thoughts on the project and summary here.

Perhaps the best thing about the Cargo Bike Cruise is the passion, expertise and commitment of the people who are building this industry, who come together to share their experiences and bike-tech innovations. Keep your eyes peeled for some particularly futuristic new wheels in this film! .

Congratulations to the cargo bike film/photography team Honor Elliott – an impressive effort just showing another job that can be done by cargo bike.

Many thanks to our partners at MP Smarter Travel, Cargo Revolution, Impact on Urban Health and Car Free Cities for making this happen. Thanks to Dr Will Norman who joined the cruise and made the case for cargo bikes to replace up to 17% of London’s van trips by 2030 - let's make it happen!
