New Community Garden Ready for Spring

A new community garden on Newcomen Street took shape in March 2026. As an important gateway into London Bridge and Guy’s Hospital, the street now provides a more welcoming environment for patients, workers and, importantly, the nurses who live above it.

Volunteers from across our community, including neighbouring Guy’s staff, helped transform a neglected patch of land under the guidance of Team London Bridge’s gardening team, managed by Oriana’s Gardens.

The volunteers cleared weeds, digging in fresh soil and planting a range of shade-tolerant, climate change-resilient plants, including a specially chosen selection with historical connections to medicine and pharmacy.

The new pocket garden is one of 23 pocket parks and gardens in the area managed by Team London Bridge, as part of their sustainability commitment to boost urban biodiversity.
