Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing and one of Britain’s greatest Victorians, was a female icon in her own lifetime and remains an inspiration to nurses around the world.

Visit the museum to celebrate this trailblazing woman and explore her extraordinary life, from her privileged childhood and defiance of her parents to her groundbreaking work in the Crimean War and her campaign for better healthcare for all. See the famous lamp that earned her the nickname The Lady with the Lamp, meet her pet owl and view her medicine chest.

The museum also hosts monthly Museum Lates, giving visitors the chance to explore after hours with talks from special guests. This month’s late, God’s Revenge Upon Murder: Florence Nightingale’s Mortality and Health Diagrams, is led by data storyteller RJ Andrews. Starting at 6pm, it explores Nightingale’s impact on statistics and includes a rare first-edition copy of Mortality and Health.
