Playing a key role in Team London Bridge’s efforts Towards a Responsible Business District, the voluntary London Living Wage campaign reflects a wider ambition: making Southwark a recognised Living Wage Borough.

Fast forward to summer 2025, and those early conversations have become a reality. Tower Bridge Court (TBC.London) has officially become the first accredited Living Wage Building in Southwark. This milestone means every current and future occupier will commit to paying all staff, including contractors and suppliers, the London Living Wage.

This accreditation ensures all jobs connected to the building, including third-party contractors, are paid at least the London Living Wage of £13.85 per hour (2024–2025 rate). So far, three tenants have signed on with this commitment, with more expected to follow.

Fair pay brings wide-reaching benefits: 94% of Living Wage Employers report improvements in recruitment, retention, morale and reputation. When fully occupied, TBC.London will support up to 750 Living Wage jobs, boosting the local economy and reducing in-work poverty.

The impact of fair pay extends nationally. If 25% more workers earned the Living Wage, the UK economy would gain £1.7 billion. With over 15,000 accredited Living Wage Employers, including major firms like KPMG, Nestlé, and Burberry, the movement is growing fast.

Southwark Council is now a recognised Living Wage Place, with over 6,000 workers benefiting from higher wages and earning on average £4,700 more annually. We’re proud that TBC.London is speerheading this borough-wide progress.
