Between 10pm and 5am, two tunnel closures are affecting motor vehicle access into the area.
Bermondsey Street tunnel is closed from 18 August to 9 September. This will particularly affect vehicles heading into Tooley Street.
Druid Street and Crucifix Lane tunnel is closed from 18 to 26 August. This will particularly affect vehicles heading into St Thomas Street and Snowsfields.
The diversion route is as follows:
- Turn right into Tower Bridge Road (from Druid Street east of Tower Bridge Rd).
- Proceed and turn left into Queen Elizabeth Street.
- Continue and turn right into Tooley Street via the temporarily suspended bus lane (banned right turn is suspended).
- Vehicles requiring access to St Thomas Street or Snowsfields should then turn left into Barnham Street to reach their destination.
We aren’t responsible for the closures or how they’re implemented, but we wanted to pass on what we know so you can alert your suppliers and delivery teams in good time.
Both tunnels are operating as normal during the day, and access for walking and cycling in adjacent roads is assured at all times. As part of these works, we’ve also been pushing for improved LED lighting through the tunnels, something we’re pleased to see finally coming to life.
For questions on the closures themselves, please contact virtue.igbokwuwe@ringway.co.uk or contactus@tfl.gov.uk, copying Team London Bridge in where you can.
