The Potters Fields Fair takes place on Saturday 20 June (12 noon to 8pm), followed by Make Music Day on Sunday 21 June, and we’re proud to be presenting it alongside them.

Saturday’s programme is packed. Live music will run throughout the day, moving from foot-tapping New Orleans jazz through Jamaican-influenced R&B, ska, dub rock and reggae, before closing with two sets of surf noir. In between, the Castellers of London bring their breathtaking tradition of Catalan human pyramid-building to the park, Southwark College students take to the stage with a dance performance, and Hiver Arches’ Fur The Love of Dogs promises to be exactly as entertaining as it sounds.

Children are well catered for with arts and crafts, a mini sports day, and more activities to be confirmed. Market stalls, walks, talks and workshops round out the day, with food from the Tower Bridge Collective food hall and drinks from Hiver Beers and the ever-popular Pimm’s teapot.

Sunday brings Make Music Day, an annual global celebration of music-making. Performances include The Big Summer Wind Orchestra and Choir, an open ensemble welcoming musicians and singers of all abilities, Morley College, and Kinetica Bloco, a youth charity bursting with brass, woodwind, steel pan, drums and dancers, all in full costume.

How to get involved

This is a community event, and there are several ways to be part of making it happen:

  • Volunteer on Saturday 20 June. Up to 10 volunteers are needed to help direct visitors and keep the day running smoothly. If you’d like to give a few hours to support a brilliant neighbourhood event, we’d love to hear from you. Email info@pottersfields.co.uk to register your interest.
  • Join the dog show. Sign up to Hiver Arches’ Fur The Love of Dogs and bring your four-legged friend into the spotlight. Sign-up here.
  • Play or sing on Sunday. The Big Summer Wind Orchestra and Choir is open to wind instrument players and singers of any standard. No audition, no pressure, just a great collective experience. Sign-up here
