As outlined in our BID Proposal for 2026-31, Team London Bridge (TLB) will prioritise making London Bridge a healthier place for all to work, live and visit over the next five years.

Alongside our project partners Centre for London, we launched our report outlining a Healthy Placemaking Approach for London Bridge on board HMS Belfast on 23 May 2025.

Our incremental, people-centric approach to placemaking and management encompasses key aspects of everyday life in the area. By prioritising health and wellbeing within our projects we can bring added value to the services delivered for businesses and the public, increasing real social impact and improving the human experience of visiting and working in London Bridge.

Practical ways that TLB and other BIDs can impact local health outcomes – either directly or through partnerships – were identified in the report, illustrating that much good work to influence health is already being done by BIDs, however, there is a lack of guidance and knowledge on how to measure and optimise this.

With over 100m rail and tube journeys starting or ending here annually, London Bridge has a working population of 60,000 people and in the region of 15 million visitors a year, providing an opportunity to impact the lives of a significant number of people in our area.

Professor Simon Howell Chair, Team London Bridge, said: ‘We are excited by the findings of the Centre of London report. Their framework illustrates key areas in which BIDs and other place makers can bring additional health and wellness benefits to their communities. We would like to thank the members of the London Bridge community who contributed their time to this research. By working together we’re confident that place makers can assist medical and wellness practitioners by creating environments which actively encourage healthier choices and lifestyles.’
