Thursday 7th May, 12:30-13:30, Millenium Bridge, South Side Exit, SE1 9JE
This is a shorter version of our regular walk, offered in celebration of Guy’s Hospital 300th Anniversary Celebrations.
The spectre of disease and death was ever-present for much of London’s past. And in recent times has returned to haunt us again.
Our guided tour takes us through the historic heart of London to discover more about the people and places connected with spiritual and physical healing through the ages. We will learn about the monks and nuns who ran ‘hospitals’ as charitable lodging houses; and how these developed into of two of London’s most respected modern hospitals. We will hear about the role of herbs and natural remedies as we visit a City garden.
Our walk is also an opportunity to look after our wellbeing as we take a purposeful stroll through some of the most fascinating corners of the city. Your guide is accredited City of London guide Sarah Williams-Robbins, aka Mrs Londoner, who has a background in health promotion.
Please arrive at least 5 minutes ahead of the start time as walks will begin promptly.
