Between 10pm and 5am, two tunnel closures are affecting motor vehicle access into the area.
Bermondsey Street tunnel is closed from 18 August to 9 September. This will particularly affect vehicles heading into Tooley Street, with access now routed via Borough High Street and Tower Bridge Road.
Druid Street and Crucifix Lane tunnel is closed from 18 to 26 August. This will particularly affect vehicles heading into St Thomas Street and Snowsfields. Access is available via the southern stretch of Bermondsey Street, where the closure has been lifted during these hours to help keep the area moving.
We fed into this process, which led to Bermondsey Street being opened during these hours to support access. We aren’t responsible for the closures or how they’re implemented, but we wanted to pass on what we know so you can alert your suppliers and delivery teams in good time.
Both tunnels are operating as normal during the day, and access for walking and cycling in adjacent roads is assured at all times. As part of these works, we’ve also been pushing for improved LED lighting through the tunnels, something we’re pleased to see finally coming to life.
For questions on the closures themselves, please contact virtue.igbokwuwe@ringway.co.uk or contactus@tfl.gov.uk, copying Team London Bridge in where you can.
