Join other TLB members on a tour of Recorra’s recycling facility in Essex. This is a great way to meet other people in our area concerned with sustainability and waste issues. It’s fascinating to see where your recycling ends up. Open to all, you don’t have to be a Recorra customer to attend.
This tour will give you an in-depth look at how materials are collected and segregated at their state-of-the-art facility. You will witness the impact of contamination on recycling processes and understand the importance of source segregation in giving materials a second life.
You’ll also get a chance to see their AI-powered robotic sorting arm from Recycleye which has just been installed, combining artificial intelligence with precision robotics. The robotic system was developed over the course of seven months, with the AI vision system installed in January, fabrication completed throughout the spring, and full deployment finalised this summer: see a sneak peek of the arm in action here.
