Empowering Young People in Bermondsey and Beyond

We are committed to promoting the personal, social, and educational development of young people. Our aim is to inspire confidence, nurture new skills, and empower young people to make informed decisions about their lives.

At DFYC, we:

  • Provide a safe and inclusive space where young people can explore their interests and talents.
  • Offer structured and informal learning opportunities that encourage creativity, teamwork, and leadership.
  • Support young people in building positive relationships and taking active, responsible roles in their communities.
  • Focus on those who are most vulnerable or have faced significant barriers, ensuring they have access to meaningful opportunities for growth and development.

Our work is rooted in voluntary participation and mutual respect, creating an environment where young people feel valued, heard, and supported.

We have a swimming pool, sports hall, 5-a-side football pitch, cricket nets, dance studio, rehearsal spaces, meeting rooms, educational kitchen , fitness gym & boxing gym. There is also a reception room and small café which would be open & available for use for events, with full disabled access.

Sponsor our Volleyball Team

We’re currently seeking support for the Youth Club Volleyball Team, (14-19’s) specifically to help cover the costs of new team kits, essential equipment, venue hire, and transport to and from matches. Any sponsorship would play a key role in ensuring that all young participants have access to the same opportunities, regardless of their financial background, and would allow us to continue providing a positive, structured and resourced team that can represent the youth club and the community.

Volunteering Time

Downside is always looking for volunteers. Whether you are a parent/guardian with time on your hands while the children are at school, or you are one of those lucky staff whose company pays for you to lend your expertise to organisations like Downside; we need you all.

We welcome your input and ideas, your time and your energy. All of which goes to make the club a welcoming and dynamic place where young people feel protected and confident.

Please email info@downside-fisher.org for more information.

Corporate involvement

We value the generosity of our corporate sponsors and charitable donors.

Downside Fisher relies on the support of sponsorship in various ways: sponsoring specific group activities or campaigns such as courses for obesity and nutrition; sewing and cookery classes, first aid classes; sponsoring our water stations and marathon runners. Hiring our facilities for company events and supporting our club teams in boxing, basketball, and football. Corporations can also donate equipment and pro-bono services to keep the club running smoothly and efficiently.
