Since opening in September last year, Brigade has cemented itself as one of the best places to celebrate in London Bridge. So you can imagine the kind of fun they’re planning to celebrate their first birthday this month. It all kicks off on Monday 17th September and the party lasts all week until Friday 21st September! See the full list of birthday activities here.
The Brigade team are making the most of their first year by featuring live music every night, along with great food and some fantastic drinks promotions.
London's most innovative social enterprise venture took three years in the making, starting with the renovation of London's oldest fire station on Tooley Street. Opened by Boris Johnson and recently visited and named most impressive Social Enterprise by David Cameron, Brigade is a British Bar and Bistro with five private Dining Rooms, event and meeting space and even its very own Cookery School.
One of the most exciting innovations is The Beyond Food Foundation’s (BFF) 'United Kitchen' charity apprenticeship program. Brigade and BFF Chef Founder Simon Boyle said, ‘Since opening last September, 225 formerly homeless vulnerable people have each had six weeks of inspirational training. 25 of them entered onto the apprenticeship program with another 11 starting on September 10th’.
Of course, having experience and expertise from partners PwC and De Vere Venues has helped the venture be so successful. De Vere are famous for their Great British Hospitality and each of the partners is adding their own special ingredients to the pioneering three-way partnership between the private, public and third sectors, helping disadvantaged individuals develop skills and find work.
The project also supports the development of the social enterprise sector in general by giving the profits from Brigade back into other social enterprises and charities.
But the best thing is undeniably the food. Taking inspiration from nearby Borough Market, each of the chefs is passionate about seasonal produce and the incredible energy from Boyle’s open plan kitchen is palpable from the moment you enter.
The food leans to the British Bistro and, with the fun and friendly service, there’s every reason to love Brigade and Simon Boyle's mission to inspire the homeless back to work. It’s something to feel great about and is all part of the experience.
Party season continues...
