Thirty businesses across London
Bridge are currently linked via Southwark Safe
’s handheld radio system (many of
these funded by Team London Bridge
), allowing them to communicate instantly
with each other and the police should they need to share intelligence or ask
for assistance. An incident on the 17th
March demonstrated perfectly
how the system works in keeping businesses and the public safe.
At approximately 11pm on the 17th
March a pub in London Bridge used the radio to alert surrounding businesses of
two males who were causing a disturbance inside the premises.
Southwark CCTV picked up the message,
liaised with the pub, made note of the escalating situation and relayed the
details to Southwark Police. Officers attended the scene and arrested two
males: one for criminal damage and the other for actual bodily harm.
This is another fantastic example of
businesses working with the radio, Southwark CCTV and police to get great
results. Both the arrested males have now been cautioned.
