This year's London
Bridge Community Christmas has proven to be the most successful yet. The focus
this year was on quality over quantity, to give recipient charities what they REALLY wanted; something truly useful to
them that might help with their longer-term projects. This included more strategic
ways to support the charities over the year ahead as well as traditional and
very welcome gift donations.
This new approach
led to organisations such as Belmond and Anthony Gold linking up with specific
charities to contribute to their ongoing programmes.
response from the business community in London Bridge saw 1701 presents
donated. The occupiers of The Shard alone collected a staggering 681 gifts that
were all wrapped by their volunteers over a marathon two-day wrapping session.
Over in London Bridge City, Norton Rose Fulbright held a competition to see
which floor could collect the most gifts; the results were fantastic, with over
500 gifts donated and wrapped.
In total 43
business and their employees contributed and festive wrapping sessions held at
the London Bridge Hive were heavily subscribed.

The scope of these
excellent locally based organisations varies but their wide-range of local
participants means that hundreds of Southwark residents who would have had no
presents will have something to unwrap on Christmas Day, and many are
guaranteed to have company at some stage of the day.
