Southwark Cathedral lies on the South Bank of the River Thames close to London Bridge on a site occupied by a Church for over one thousand years. We are the Cathedral Church for the Anglican Diocese of Southwark, formed in 1905, covering 317 square miles and over 2.5 million people. The Cathedral continues to serve the people of its parish and the diocese, to be a centre of teaching, of worship, prayer and pilgrimage and offers an open and inclusive welcome to all who come here.
Explore Southwark Cathedral's History
Discover why Southwark Cathedral is strongly associated with Winchester and why a former Bishop is buried here. Learn the name of the famous London hospital that was founded by the church.
