Sometimes feel like hopping on a bike rather than endure the monotony of the usual bus journey? Got a meeting across the river but can't see a taxi to flag down? Or maybe you feel like exploring the city under your own steam?
Whatever the reason, having access to a bicycle in the middle of a city can be a real pleasure as well as convenient. The good news is that the London Cycle Hire programme is arriving this summer and the first local docking station is being installed this week on Tooley Street beside Potters Fields Park, opposite The Bridge Lounge.
Eventually there will be over 400 across the capital and you will never be more than 300 meters away from one!

The London Cycle Hire scheme will be a public bicycle sharing scheme for short journeys in and around central London. You'll be able to pick up a cycle, use it as you like, then drop it off, ready for the next person.
When you can hire?
The cycles will be available 24 hours a day, all year round. It will be self-service so just turn up and go whenever you get the urge. No need to book.
